Our purpose
Carène is the name of one of the 88 constellations in the sky. Richard de Tscharner chose this name for his foundation to point out the importance of gaining height and thus a broader perspective on our planet, its realities and needs.

our mission

promoting education preserving tradition

In retrospect, the values that have guided Richard de Tscharner’s life journey are education as well as a respect for traditions and cultures of the world, hence his desire to promote the transmission of knowledge and the preservation of cultural roots.

why & when

creation

Aware that knowledge had always been transmitted by our ancestors and conscious of the inestimable legacy of those who have gone before us, Richard de Tscharner created the Carène Foundation back in 2008, to support the transmission of knowledge and the preservation of cultural roots.

Our commitment to educational values has recently led us:

To support the Bourbaki Panorama, installed in 1889, which illustrates the community spirit, the humanitarian tradition and the neutrality of Switzerland.

To ensure that Bakor monoliths are well understood by the local population and that this unique cultural heritage in Cross River State, Nigeria is well preserved.

To fund a new SUV to enable the CIOMAL Foundation team to conduct early detection campaigns throughout Cambodia to combat leprosy and help those affected to have a decent life.
